Never loose your settings.

We recommend making the change on your router. Most consumer grade routers support "Dynamic DNS" or DDNS. This feature will update your network configuration with our service to ensure that the settings you have made will be automatically updated in the event that your IP address ever changes.

1. Login to your router

To log in and configure your router, you open it up in your web browser. If you don't know the IP address for your router, don't worry, it is typically one of the following:

  • http://192.168.0.1
  • http://192.168.1.1
  • http://192.168.10.1
  • http://192.168.100.1

If you have forgotten your router's username and/or password, the most common username is "admin" and the password is either blank, "admin", or "password". If none of those work, you can often reset the password to the manufacturer default by pressing a button on the router itself, or in some cases access without a password if you try to access your router quickly after you've cycled the power to it.

2. Find the Dynamic DNS

Look for "Dynamic DNS" or "DDNS" tab or panel in your routers administration interface.

3. Fill in the corresponding details as best as possible.

Server
securedns.dnsbycomodo.com

URL
https://securedns.dnsbycomodo.com/nic/update/

Hostname
  1. Login to https://securedns.dnsbycomodo.com/app/dashboard/
  2. Select your network from the list.
  3. Copy your "DDNS Hostname"

4. Save or apply your settings.

Your router should give you some indication of if the API integration worked.

Advanced Users

ddclient

The ddclient service is for users who have installed ddclient onto one of their network applications or devices. These users will want to manage the server themselves.

Example /etc/ddclient.conf

protocol=dyndns2
use=if, if=eth0
server=securedns.dnsbycomodo.com
login=exampleUser
password='123'
abcdef123456789012345678901234567890.dns

Existing Dyname DNS (DDNS) Monitoring

For users who already have an existing Dynamic DNS (DDNS) hostname we offer monitoring of your existing DDNS hostname. The benefits of this service allow your SecureDNS policy to remain associated with your IP address without loosing your existing Dynamic DNS (DDNS) hostname.

To manage this setting perform the following steps:

  1. Login to https://securedns.dnsbycomodo.com/app/dashboard/
  2. Select your network from the list.
  3. Click on beside the "Existing Dynamic DNS (DDNS) hostname to monitor:"
  4. Enter your existing Dynamic DNS (DDNS) hostname into the prompt and click "OK"
  5. You will see a success message confirming your changes.
Please allow 15 - 30 minutes for sychronization to begin.
